Giving Guide for 2024-25

What an energetic and eventful year we've had!

Did you know that there are over 70 different groups and ongoing activities here at UUCE? From BIPOC and Birders to Sew for a Cause and Small Group Connection Circles, they all support our mission of transformation and service from a place of love and inclusion.

This year we offered more community-building, fun-filled events, continued our monthly Justice Actions, and celebrated Sacred Events together in community.

For the 2024-25 church year, we are focusing on three areas.

Sustainable Budget
Over the years, our expenses have been increasing and our membership has been growing. However, our pledge income has remained pretty much the same. Unlike other religions, ours is a self-sustaining organization. That means we don’t receive any income from the UUA (Unitarian Universalist Association). In fact, we owe them several thousands of dollars each year for their expertise in all areas of church life from finances to worship.

The majority of our income (80%) comes from our members and friends.

We are planning more fundraisers to draw people from the larger community, not just our members, and we are exploring grants, rentals, and passive income ideas.

Transformational Budget

Staff Pay Justice
We are fortunate to have one of the best staff teams we could ever hope for. One of the ways that we live out our values is in our role as one of Eugene’s small employers. We strive to pay our 12 staff members in a way that is not only fair, not only equitable, but in a way that is just. Our goal is to set a minimum hourly wage of $20 by the year 2027.

Exciting Events and Projects

  • Ministerial Intern
    • We take pride in being a teaching congregation, and have really missed the many gifts of having an intern this year. We are happy to have made an offer to a part-time, 2-year ministerial intern who will start in late summer. Since they are moving, we will offer some moving expenses and benefits as well as a stipend.
  • Summer Camp for Kids
    • An alternative to bible-based church camps, this will be for any child in our community who wants a spiritual and justice focus while having a whole lot of fun this summer.
  • New Equipment
    • Some of our chairs are falling apart and the playground equipment is also quite old.
    • We would love to explore ways to fund a church bus and driver.
  • Tiny Homes
    • We plan to replace the Conestoga huts with more comfortable tiny homes.
  • All-Congregation Visioning
    • We hope each and every one of you will join in this year-long process, which will help us to build our collective vision for the future of our church. You’ll hear more soon from our Board of Trustees about this exciting opportunity.

Our UU Church

Our UU church holds a unique religious space in Eugene/Springfield (and beyond). We’ve been here in one form or another for over 100 years, and we can offer this liberating faith for generations to come.

We invite you to be part of this year’s pledge drive in any way that you can by considering your “sweet spot”. That is where the amount you can afford meets your commitment to our faith and our mission.
