Coming of Age is a UU program similar to the Jewish bar/bat mitzvah, confirmation programs in many Protestant Christian denominations, and rites of passage in many tribal societies.  Amid plenty of fun and creativity, youth are encouraged to take a more active role in understanding and practicing their UU faith.

Click the link to find a recent brochure that outlines components of the program and an application to be completed by the teen wishing to participate in the 2017-18 Coming of Age program. The information provided in your/your child’s application will be especially helpful to us in planning activities and in seeking out prospective mentors.

We require all prospective mentors to go through an application process which includes a background check and an orientation, as well as monthly meetings during the course of the program to check in on their progress and experiences as they mentor your child.
